IEP Goal Assistance:

For students working on reading comprehension and decoding, I recommend using the reading apps (Raz-kids, Epic, Starfall) above as well as this reading bingo ( for a fun game. Practicing reading to your student and having your child to read to you.

For students working on math calculation or math reasoning goals, I recommend using the math apps (Dreambox and IXL). Addition and subtraction practice can be worked on using toys as manipulatives, for example blocks, cars, etc.

For social skills practice, I recommend playing board games, having conversations about their day, and talking about feelings during this time. Let your child express how they are feeling and talk about using calming strategies. In class, we use a calm down space, deep breathes, sensory toys, weighted lap blankets, talking a walk, or jump roping. The students love to play Uno for social skills pr
actice. Ask your child about Some of them are working on coding Minecraft and have become quick learners!

For writing, have your child journal their feelings, daily activities, the weather, plans for the summer, etc. We are working on using capital letters at the beginning of the sentence and correct ending punctuation.

Life skills are also important at this time. Practice tying your shoes (, getting dressed, setting the table, cleaning up your toys, washing hands, etc.

Lastly, please check in with your child's mental health. Please reach out to me by email or phone if I can help at all.
